I know this blog is about sewing for kids but I just had to post about a class I took this year. On September 13th I attended a wonderful workshop given by the uber creative Denyse Schmidt. I will say that the class is very liberating if you want a twist on "traditional" quilting. I didn't get how this concept would work but after following the techniques (which I had no choice in selecting), I totally started to get into it.
The concept for pulling these stylized quilts together forces you to let go of what you know (or think you know) and let the process of blindly selecting fabric pieces develop into an interesting quilt. I must admit it was difficult to let myself go. Here are some of the pictures of the class quilt, we all contributed at least two or three blocks. I know the colors are wacky, but it's not about the colors it's about the technique.
